Tutankhamon's Golden Mask

This must be one of world's most famous objects - the golden mask of Tutankhamon. This oil painting took me 100 hours to finish - the right to use the reference photo for this painting was kindly given by Werner Forman Archives.

Here is a big scratchboard work - 1 m wide. It is of an Arab stallion neighing. This is done by scratching surface with a surgeon's knife - thousands and thousands of tiny marks...

Fire

Here is a big oil painting (1m tall) of a fiery Arab horse galloping towards you. It is done with grisaille techniqy - first a grey colored underpainting was made, and ofn top of that dozens of thin layers of color that show the underpainting beneath.

As a comparison, After the Storm was painted directly with color.

White Turkish Angora - Mithrandir's Amazing Grace

This is a gouache painting I made of a beautiful white Turkish Angora  - her full name is Mithrandir's Amazing Grace, but to her purrson Anke she is just Grace.

This painting is now owned by Mithrandir Cattery's Anke van der Vliet.
